How to setup OpenVPN on Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7. (32 & 64 Bit)

 

First step for Vista users!Disable the UAC.

Go to your Control Panel = Start - Control Panel

Locate the UAC by entering UAC in the search box. Click on "Turn User Account Control (UAC) on or off"

 

 

On the following screen uncheck the box "Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer" and click on "OK".

 

 

Reboot your computer so the changes can take effect.
STEP 1: Download OpenVPN 2.1 rc19
STEP 2: After downloading right click and select compatibility mode as Windows Vista (Only for Windows 7 users) and select Run as an Administrator. (Only for Vista and Windows 7 users.)

 

 

STEP 3: Run the Installer

 

 

 

 

 

Click on "Install" or "Continue Anyway" when Tap-Win32 warning box shows up on your screen.

 

 

STEP 4: Download the OpenVPN configuration files and CA certificate.

 

Unzip all *.ovpn files (each file is for one VPN server) to your openvpn configuration directory: C:\Program Files\OpenVPN\config. (Or unzip them to a different folder and copy them to the same directory stated.)

 

 

STEP 5: Locate the OpenVPN GUI icon on your desktop, right click and select "Run as Administrator"

 

 

 

STEP 6: Right-click on the OpenVPN GUI icon located on your taskbar, choose the server you want to connect to and click "connect".

 

 

STEP 7: Enter your VPN Worldwide account details. Your Username and Password and click on "OK".
