Google One VPN Now Available for Windows and macOS

For those who subscribe to the Premium plan, the Google One VPN service applications for Windows and macOS can be downloaded by accessing the benefits page as shown in the image below.

According to the Google One support page, the VPN service is only available for the following countries: Austria, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, United Kingdom, and the United States. Brazil was left out.

The Windows version of the Google One VPN app requires Windows 10 (64-bit only) or Windows 11. The ARM-based version of Microsoft’s operating system is not supported. For macOS, you must have version 11 or later on a Mac with an Intel or Apple Silicon processor.

Google One VPN works similarly to other services of its kind, ensuring that data is sent online through an encrypted “tunnel” to ensure user privacy. The Google One support page also says that the VPN assigns an IP address based on the user’s current country so that websites show region-appropriate content. The detail is that the sites cannot use this information to determine the exact location of the user.

Google One Premium plan subscribers can share access to the VPN service with up to five people in the same family using iOS, Android, Windows, and macOS devices at no additional cost.
